Contentment is an every day practice read my meditation book. It went on sharing that we all face the hardships in our own way. Another idea that it shares and was appealing to me was this. A spiritual practice is an unlearning of fear and accepting love back in our life. For me the best living examples of this wisdom are people who carry themselves with joy and kindness after having a major change in their lives like a disability.

Contentment and positivity are an essential daily practice for me. It’s even more important on a bad day when it’s hard to remember it in the heat of the moment. I now reflect back on my last two months in Sasebo - how they flew by in a blink of an eye. Things were amazingly good between all the cool adventures I got to have with my friends, to my work and study commitments, to fully enjoying seasonal food and what cooler weather facilitated... It was however extremely sad to say good byes to those precious people, to amazing jobs, our lovely house, knowing that yet another chapter is coming to an end and I’ll have to start over. These are some of the joys and hardships of a military life.
