Once a year in October a colorful, vibrant and energetic dance festival takes place across Japan. A tradition that started in 1954 - it brings large groups of people: classmates, colleges, friends and families together. Well orchestrated performances take place along the shopping street called Arcade or known as Ginza to Americans; by the train station and new mall - Gobangai as well as parks across the town.
My Yosakoi started with "champon" - veggies, seafood and noodles that work so well together in a rich salty broth. There is a Michelin star restaurant at the very left end of the building of the main train station. Family owned, one can sit at the bar and watch the magic happening in front of their eyes, all for just 800 yen. Street food is another must in Japan - between snacks and sweet treats, you just have to give it a try! Once the food was settled we headed to the Arcade and it was truly a joy to watch people of all ages being carried away in DANCE!
