In 2019 I took over the position of Event Chair of a local club. Members give back to the community through club sponsored volunteer work and by operating the Thrift Store. Proceeds fund various CFAS groups and activities, and the SSC Scholarship Awards Program.
Here are the adventures and events that I had a joy to organize and be a part of with the fellow spouses.
September - Welcome Brunch
This event was my debut in working with a caterer who was very patient while walking me through numerous major and minor planning details: from date, number of attendees and food that had to be selected weeks in advance to color of napkins, schedule, mics and decoration.

October - Unzen and Indigo dying
We took a bus that also had to be reserved based on number of attendees weeks prior. On what was 2h ride, White Rice Sensei Scott gave us a fun Japanese lesson while I shared some facts about volcanic city Obama, ancient and complex process of indigo dying and health benefits of steamed food that we had for lunch.

November - Treasure Hunt
Treasure Hunt was our next adventure. We visited the pottery kelt in Arita and got to fill up our basket scavenging through rows and piles of antique pottery. Lunch at a house made udon noodle served in a generous serving of delicious broth summarized our outing.

December - Ugly Sweater Holiday Party
Yumihari Hotel was the host of our event this year. Their spacious, clean and ambient banquet rooms are a great backdrop for an event with a 5 course fixed price meal and time for us to be merry.

Visit to Nobi Nobi House with International Ladies of Sasebo
We did our annual visit to the facility for adults with mental development issues. It was founded by a parent who wanted a place for her own child to socialize outside of home. Now there are 10 people who come in during day time from their houses or nursing homes who are supported by 4 staff members and a driver. We are always treated to wonderful performances, home made cookies and lots of positivity!
